Q. What are the benefits of low-laser therapy?

A. Low level laser therapy is a non-invasive, fast and effective modality that has been proven in clinical trials to reduce pain, reduce edema, and promote healing by addressing the underlying condition. The treatments are effective and the benefits of laser therapy are long lasting. Laser therapy is less costly, safer, and allows for repair at a cellular level for many conditions compared to other treatments.

Q. How does low level laser work?

A. Light particles called photons excite the body’s cells infusing them with energy, with the three primary reactions being, reduction of inflammation, cell regeneration, and increased blood flow. Cells that are damaged and inflamed will absorb these light particles more readily as they have a greater need for energy and repair.  Laser therapy treats the underlying condition or pathology to promote healing.

Q. Does low level or cold laser therapy feel cold?

A. No, low level or cold lasers do not feel cold.  It is called cold laser to differentiate it from high powered lasers that produce heat.  Most people do not feel anything during treatment.  A few people report feeling a tingling sensation during treatment.

  • herniated discs
  • back pain
  • sports injuries
  • knee pain

Q. Are there any complications to the treatments?

A. There are no known and / or published adverse effects of low-level laser therapy.  Low-level laser therapy has been investigated and used clinically for over 40 years, mostly in Eastern Europe and Asia.  There have been more clinical trials in Canada and the US in the past 2 decades as well.

  • headaches
  • tennis elbow
  • muscle strains

  • plantar fasciitis
  • migraines
  • shoulder pain
  • soft tissue injuries

Q. How safe is low-level laser therapy?

A. Low level laser therapy is very safe; the only general precaution is the use of special filtering glasses. Since the laser is low level and does not produce heat there is no tissue destruction or other hazards that you would find associated with the higher powered lasers.

Q. Are there any contraindications for using cold laser?

A. There are no code regulated contraindications; however, since there are no long term evaluations on certain conditions, we do not recommend use of the laser on pregnant women, persons with a pace maker or on cancerous tumors.

Q. What is low level laser therapy?

A. Low level laser therapy is the use of focused red light energy as a treatment modality. The cold laser is used at a low power and specific wavelength to eliminate pain and promote healing for a variety of conditions.

Yeager Chiropractic and Wellness utilize the Erchonia FX 635 and Erchonia PL TOUCH low level lasers for the treatment of acute and chronic pain and a variety of conditions listed above. These lasers are used to enhance tissue recovery, increase blood flow, stimulate cellular energy production and reduce inflammation. Erchonia's lasers made history by becoming the first to receive FDA market clearance for the treatment of chronic pain. The Erchonia lasers are the most advanced lasers on the market with a patented line generated beam and the ability to program independent frequencies in all of their lasers.

Low level laser therapy or cold laser therapy is a painless, sterile, non-invasive, drug-free modality.
During a laser treatment, laser light particles called photons will pass through skin layers.  The photons are absorbed by the powerhouse of the body’s individual cells called the mitochondria.  Receptors within the mitochondria are capable of absorbing distinct parameters of light.  The stimulation of these receptors with light promotes energy production, biochemical reactions, protein and growth factor synthesis, cell growth and proliferation and enhanced blood and oxygen flow which lead to faster healing of injured or damaged body tissue and elimination of pain.  Cold laser therapy is beneficial for treatment of:

Q. Does low-level laser therapy cause heat damage or cancer in the tissue?

A. No, low-level laser by virtue of design is non-heat producing and does not alter the cell structure.  The laser irradiation is non-ionizing, meaning it does not collect in the tissue.

Q. What conditions are the lasers used for?

A. Cold laser therapy is beneficial for treatment of acute and chronic pain such as plantar fasciitis, arthritis, spinal stenosis, herniated discs, neck pain, migraines, headaches, back pain, shoulder pain and rotator cuff injuries, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, knee pain, plantar fasciitis, soft tissue injuries, muscle strains and  sports injuries.
